De Groene Vlinder

Situated in de Pijp on the corner of Albert Cuypstraat and the cafe-laden Eerste van der Helststraat, de Groene Vlinder is a relaxed bruin cafe that in the summer throws open its windows to let the outside in.

Warmth-worshipping customers blur the boundaries with neighbouring bars as they spill out onto the tables and chairs along the pedestrianised street. In the wintertime, regulars still make the most of the outside space while the sun shines but its cosy interior provides an equally nice space in which to relax with a coffee and food by day or beers and wine by night.

Think dark wood, gig posters, well-worn furniture and a dash of brass. Like with most cafes and bars of this type, the music takes on a decidedly Motown edge, and that’s just fine by us.
